My ambition as 2017 IEEE President-Elect…

is to advance IEEE through increased engagement, relevancy and membership value.

My goal is to further recent IEEE Board of Director’s strategic planning efforts by aligning priorities, resource allocation, financial investments and IT development with long-term aspirations.

I will also work to ensure that members’ Constitutional safeguards are maintained by defending an IEEE structure that is member-governed based on a balance of activity, technical, and regional representation.

Goals

As IEEE 2017 President-Elect, my focus is to…

Increase global engagement

…with a specific focus on industry. As an industry leader, I recognize that IEEE must forge a deeper connection with the next generation of practicing engineers. As IEEE 2017 President-Elect I will support efforts to act on recommendations to improve industry engagement and better illustrate the benefits that IEEE offers.

Deliver more relevant content

…through improved tools and customized packaging of information. We need relevant information at the fingertip. To do this, we can partner with others to enhance search engines, online access, interactive capability and mobile device applications. As 2017 President-Elect I will support continued adoption of tools that contemporizes and transform our content and its delivery.

Build more value for IEEE membership

…by increasing the nimbleness of IEEE to address emerging themes and offering competency-based education that supports career progression. Engineering careers are increasingly collaborative, multidisciplinary, entrepreneurial, and global which is changing professional education needs. We can provide members more value by offering competency-based education frameworks that are supported by recognized IEEE certification to support career progression.
